From Wednesday 24th – Saturday 27th January, the United Kingdom’s largest education event returns to the Excel Arena in London.
The BETT Show brings together people from across the world of education in their mission to share ‘ideas, practices and technologies so that educators and learners can fulfil their potential.’
This year marks a special appearance for Evolve as members of our team attend the event as an organisation for the first time. It will also be the moment we launch our exciting Classroom Movers activity strand into the public domain.
Research from the Nuffield Foundation stated that ‘behaviour is a concern for teachers and children at playtimes’. Teachers at a recent Evolve CPD event in South Lincolnshire also noted that ‘learning time is often lost immediately after playtimes with valuable time spent resolving conflicts and calming children down’.
However, Evolve Managing Director John Bishop has joined forces with Howard Bishop from Military Training Ltd to devise a programme of activities to aid concentration in the classroom whilst ensuring every child is physically active at multiple points throughout the day.
Aided by short motivational videos, all of the activities are designed to take place in the classroom with limited space not an issue. Pupils are invited to take part in a large range of activities and scenarios, including triathlon training, BMX cycling and taking a trip to the beach to name just a few.
Whilst helping children to reach their recommended target of 30 minutes physical activity each day, the sessions also provide a calming influence on the classroom so learning time is maximised after the sessions.
Yet that is not all you can expect to see from the Evolve BETT Show team! Our Health and Wellbeing Toolkit is being used with over 3,000 pupils across the country, tracking their physical and emotional health and wellbeing across the academic year. For anyone interested in the wellbeing of their pupils, this showcase must not be missed.
If you are attending the BETT Show at the end of the month, make sure you come and talk to one of our enthusiastic members of staff to find out more. If you are unable to attend, feel free to contact Josh Cronin on firstname.lastname@example.org.
