We started our ‘12 Days of Christmas’ campaign with an excellent blog developed by Luke Francis yesterday. Now it is the turn of Dan Brown who works in the centre of Nottingham and is enjoying every minute…
I have been with Evolve for around two years now and have worked in a number of different settings. These include a special educational needs (SEN) school, a secondary school, a Nottingham City school in a deprived area with over 700 children and a Nottingham County school with only 150 pupils. The aspect I enjoy most about the role is the vast amount of activities we cover in the school. I deliver classroom support, lunchtime animation, one to one mentoring, breakfast clubs, PE and after school clubs…every day is different.
I delivered one of our transition holiday courses on the theme of ‘My Tribe, My Land’ at The Elizabethan Academy last summer. My greatest success was with the tribe I supported and helping them to sing the National Anthem they created before showcasing it in front of the parents at the talent show. I enjoyed taking the tribe myself and having competitions with the other tribes during the various different activities we delivered.
Parents of children who attended the holiday course noted the positive change in “confidence and enthusiasm” of their children after “really enjoyable and relaxed” activities. It was also noted that pupils “made new friends” who would be in the same year group at secondary school.
My ambitions for the children I work with is that they try as hard as they can to improve themselves in every way. I encourage them not to let themselves, parents, teachers or myself down, as we all know how much potential they have to achieve their goals academically.

Don’t forget to check back tomorrow at 9am for the third day of our ‘12 Days of Christmas’!
