Evolve shortlisted for Healthy Lifestyle Award

Mental Health has been in the spotlight this week and it fits well that Evolve, the award-winning social enterprise that supports the health and wellbeing of children in schools, has received further recognition for its pioneering Project HERO programme. The acronym HERO stands for Health Engagement Real Outcomes.

On Thursday 19 October, Evolve staff will be attending the Royal Society of Public Health Awards in London, where they have been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the Healthy Lifestyle Award

The Royal Society for Public Health explained:

“Each application underwent a rigorous assessment from our expert panel of assessors and, in making the shortlist, your organisation has already been formally recognised for its contribution to improving and protecting the public’s health. The winners of the six categories will also be submitted for consideration for the prestigious Public Health Minister’s Award.”

All winners will be revealed at the gala RSPH Awards 2017 event next week at the East Wintergarden in London. The ceremony will be jointly hosted by RSPH Vice President Professor Lord Patel of Bradford OBE and broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky.

Evolve Managing Director, John Bishop, welcomed the recognition from the Royal Society for Public Health:

“I am delighted at this recognition for all the hard work Evolve staff have been putting in for the last 10 years. We have been pioneering health and wellbeing as a basis for our work in schools. We understand the need to focus on all aspects of health – both physical and mental. I am hoping that being shortlisted for this award will lead to a closer relationship between the Royal Society for Public Health and Evolve.”

Evolve Chairman, Graham Morgan, stated:

“Children in the Digital Age need three key aspects to their education: physical health, emotional wellbeing and cognitive development. Project HERO is delivered in schools by our inspiring Evolve Health Mentors. We understand that our staff need specific training to make a significant impact. All staff joining Evolve undertake a Level 4 course in Health Mentoring, in conjunction with Newman University in Birmingham, and this year we have established a Master’s degree in Health Mentoring at Newman too.”
