Inaugural Project HE:RO Network Event

Moxhull Hall Hotel in Warwickshire played host for the inaugural Project HE:RO Network Event.  This meeting was organised for headteachers to discuss how they are using their Health Mentors and share good practise.

The heads present all benefitted from hearing case studies about how Health Mentors were being effectively used, often in different ways to how they had been deployed in their own school.  The common thread that ran through the discussion was how versatile these staff are and the consistently high quality of new appointments.

A key feature of the network meeting was the introduction of Pause Button Therapy by Gay Jones, formerly of Kingstanding Education Action Zone.  A select group of experienced Health Mentors have now been trained to use PBT as part of HERO’s mentoring programme and this addition was welcomed by the assembled group of school leaders.  Further information about this programme can be found at their website www.pausebuttontherapy.com

Unfortunately, Evolve’s limited budget meant that the guest list for this event was much smaller than they would have liked.  However, the success of this event means that similar events in the future are likely with headteachers who were unable to attend this time around on the next guest list.

A regional event in North Lincolsnhire is already planned for Thursday 24thMay 2012 at Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort. With reduced support from local authorities, collaborative networking events such as these will become more common and important as headteachers look to find new, affordable and cost effective ways to raise standards and achievement within their school.
