This Wednesday I attended Evolve’s Senior Management Meeting at Hotel La Tour in Birmingham. This was my first experience of a business meeting and, once again, I was able to learn more about the company and how it is managed.
The main point of the meeting was to review Evolve’s work during the 2011/2012 school year. This included a review of the performance of all Regional Managers and Health Mentors. This was of particular interest to me because I now understand the comprehensive quality assurance system that is in place, which is a key feature of Project HE:RO.
Another topic of interest was a discussion about how the company will develop and grow throughout the next school year. All Project HE:RO work strands will be strengthened to fuel organic growth and a number of new projects were discussed that may be launched during 2012/13.
In the meeting, Damon Fox provided a summary of how the XLR8 Camp in Lincoln, which began earlier in the week, was being received and how much the children were enjoying the camp. For more information about the XLR8 Camps you can follow @XLR8Camps on Twitter for regular updates.
The final topic that was discussed during this meeting was Evolve’s Annual Staff Conference that is due to take place at the end of August. The programme of events for this week was discussed amongst the Evolve team and it sounds like it is going to be a great conference.
By the end of the day I felt that I had absorbed a lot of information about the company and it’s ongoing projects such as Project HE:RO and XLR8 Camps. My task over the next few days is to work on a press release for the fast approaching Birmingham XLR8 Camp and to try and create some media buzz around it…this should be interesting!
