The annual Evolve Sport Christmas get together resulted in a victory for the Midlands team in the six-a-side football competition.
The pre-tournament favourites, lead by captain, John Bishop, won a hard-fought final against the talented Yorkshire regional team. Sincil Bank, the home of Lincoln City Football Club, was the setting for the competition on an extremely cold day which saw teams drawn from across England and Wales. Accurate passing, speed and movement were what gave the Midlands team the edge after cruising to victory against the Wales and West team in the semi-final.
John Bishop said: “After two long days at the Evolve Sport Annual Conference, the staff were extremely keen to get out there and show what they could do on the pitch. We won a close game and I was very impressed by the general skill level on show today. We will be celebrating together tonight!”
Canolfan Gôl Centres in Cardiff is Wales’ first purpose built five-a-side centre utilising the new 3G artificial pitches. Gôl has installed revolutionary pitches using a rubber crumb infill. The pitches look, feel and play like natural turf but without the disadvantages of getting waterlogged when wet or rutted when dry. Evolve will be using the facility for all forthcoming coach education courses in South East Wales throughout 2008.
Evolve Sport has long-recognised the skills gap in coaches completing their basic NGB coaching badges and their ability to deliver quality sports lessons in the Primary School setting.
Evolve Sport has written a Level 2 NVQ course in Activity Leadership, specifically designed to close this gap. All Evolve Sport and Dance coaches will now attend this bespoke training course that includes modules on behaviour management, supervision in schools and the Evolve coaching philosophies. Courses will be held across the country several times a year.
Feedback from coaches attending the pilot courses held in Sutton Coldfield and Cardiff has been very positive.
